A Photo Beside a Photo, So You Recognise Your Own Mistake in Seconds

Words are hard to hold against a cloth on the loom. Pictures at the same scale are not.

The Wrong Row and the Right Row, Side by Side
See It

The Wrong Row and the Right Row, Side by Side

Every fault is photographed beside the correct cloth, marked with a red circle and a white tick, so you see exactly what went wrong and what the repair should look like when it is done. No guessing from a paragraph.

The Cause in One Line, the Repair in Numbered Steps
Name It, Fix It

The Cause in One Line, the Repair in Numbered Steps

Each spread names the cause in plain words, sett too close, beat too light, a pick reversed at row eleven, then gives the repair as numbered steps you can do without cutting off. The prevention check at the bottom stops the same fault starting on the next warp.

The Faults This Guide Puts Right

Warp showing through the weft. Pattern gone flat. Bulky or thick selvedges. Loose, wavy or drawn in edges. Lost place in the chart, colour bleeding at the turns, uneven beat between sessions, floats on the back, tension drifting as the warp winds on, and sixteen more, handled the same way: see it, name it, fix it.

  • Rigid heddle, frame and inkle looms, any weft faced pick up structure
  • The fix it section of the Pattern Bible covers three faults, this is the full atlas behind it
  • The yarn saved on the first repair pays for the guide
  • Keep the diagnostic map beside the loom, printed on one page

We're Loom Pattern Lab

The first runner never made it to the table. It was meant to be a gift, a Krokbragd runner in rust and cream, and by row nine the pattern had gone flat: the diamonds were right there in the chart and missing from the cloth. The pattern was beautiful. The instructions assumed we already knew which loom the author owned, what a pick sequence was, and which yarn size the words meant.

So we read every forum thread we could find, and the same three questions came up hundreds of times, always with half an answer: why is my Krokbragd going flat, why is my warp still showing, which yarn do I actually buy. The answers existed. Nobody had put them on the same page as the chart.

The Pattern Bible is that page. One standard for every one of the 250+ charts, one setup diagram for each loom, one fix beside each common mistake, and ten projects that end with something in use. We wrote it for the weaver we were at row nine. The runner, second attempt, is on the table now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need Any Weaving Experience?

No. Part 1 starts at the bare loom, with warping and the three shed setup, and walks you to your first finished motif band. Every plate carries a skill label, so you begin with a two colour band and grow into the harder charts at your own pace.

My Krokbragd Keeps Going Flat. Will This Fix It?

A flat pattern almost always comes from a reversed pick sequence or a beat that leaves warp showing. Every chart here numbers the sequence and marks the rows where reversals happen, and the fix it section shows a correct row beside a wrong one, so you see the cause before you unweave anything.

Will It Work With My Loom?

The library is written for the rigid heddle with a pick up stick, and carries separate setup diagrams for frame, inkle and shaft looms. Every project states its loom width and repeat, so you know before you warp whether it fits.

Which Yarn Should I Buy?

Part 1 gives metric and imperial tables, WPI and EPI explained, and UK and US yarn names side by side, plus a substitution worksheet. You buy the yarn you can find where you live and know it will behave the way the chart expects.

How Do the Charts Work?

Every chart has a colour key, a numbered pick sequence and a photo of the finished cloth. You read one row at a time, and the stop and check markers tell you when to hold the cloth against the picture.

What Do I Actually Need to Start?

A rigid heddle loom, worsted weight wool in three or four colours, a shuttle, scissors and a tapestry needle. The bonus checklist names each item and what to look for, so you buy once.

How Does It Arrive?

The moment you buy, as a download in A4 and US Letter. Read it on a phone or tablet beside the loom, or print only the plates you are weaving this week. No special software, any PDF reader works.

Is This a Subscription or a One Time Purchase?

One payment. You keep the library, both bonuses and every future update, with no recurring charge.
